The 60-day grace period, which began Aug. 13, was set up after the turnpike saw a bump in calls in recent weeks, including from motorists invoiced after using new open-road tolling lanes and drivers targeted by scam text messages demanding payment for unpaid tolls, according to turnpike spokesman Chuck Cyrill. Call center wait times rose to more than 13 minutes in late July, though that’s leveled off to about six minutes as of Aug. 16. Read more >>
